February Will be Civil War History Month
In the post racial era of B. Hussein we should be celebrating American history and not devoting an entire month to a small percentage of Americans based on their skin color.
In my opinion the fact that we have Black History month in the year 2009 is divisive and also exclusive.
Devoting an entire month to one race in 2009 is ridiculous.
It’s not to diminish anything colored American’s have accomplished but their accomplishments are a sub set of the overall accomplishments of American’s because they are American’s.
We should celebrate American’s of great merit and character regardless of their race or ethnicity.
Furthermore by having this month of Black history we automatically shut out all aspects of discussing great men of American history who are not of this race.
Consider the National Holidays in America. With the exception of Jesus Christ Himself and Christmas and Easter, and Columbus day, we only have one other day devoted to one person, that being Martin Luther King Jr.
That holiday is to celebrate the African American struggle to obtain freedom and later full Civil Rights as American’s. And no one is disputing having that day.
But consider that we have rammed all of the Presidents of the United States into one day many of which have done much more than Martin Luther King Jr. to make America great.
Presidents like James K. Polk whose legacy was expanding America from sea to shining sea are never even mentioned. And many other Presidents were not only great leaders of the Nation but military hero’s who time and again road into battle like the warrior kings of old.
From 2009 going forward I will recognize February as Civil War History month and I hope Americans of all races, creeds and colors will join me on this.
My Dad was always a big student of the Civil War and I think it’s a very interesting conflict.
It’s a conflict that held a Nation together and made the continuing greatness of America possible. Not to mention 600k plus patriots gave their lives.
This is going to be a big hit with the folks I know it…..
